Frequently Asked Questions
How do I book walks and set up a schedule?
Once your onboarding paperwork is completed, you can start scheduling walks.
If you have a recurring schedule (same day and time each week), we’ll set it up for you, and from there on you’ll only need to keep us posted about any changes or cancellations within the policy timeframe.
If your schedule varies week to week, you’re welcome to submit requests for the upcoming week by Saturday. You can do this through the app or by texting us directly.
Need a last-minute walk? Feel free to reach out! We’ll always do our best to fit your pup in, though some flexibility with timing may be needed.
Do you offer private or group walks?
All of our walks are one-on-one. However, we can walk 2–3 dogs from the same household together, as long as they are comfortable walking with each other on leash.
Please note that additional dogs on the same walk are subject to an extra fee.
Which walk duration should I choose for my pup?
It really depends on what you’d like us to include during the visit. Some walks are just for exercise and fresh air, while others may also involve feeding, medications, getting your pup dressed for the weather, or a bit of playtime. Your dog’s potty habits and energy level also play a big role in choosing the right duration.
To give you an idea:
- 30 minutes is best suited for a straightforward outing. This typically includes a walk around a few nearby blocks, followed by paw-wiping upon return. If a meal is needed, it would usually be a shorter relief walk, followed by feeding and staying with your pup for a few minutes after they finish eating for safety.
- 45 minutes is a great option when you’d like to include something extra, like a meal, medications, or a bit of indoor playtime, without sacrificing the length of the walk itself.
- 60 minutes allows for a longer walk covering more distance, or a combination of outdoor activity and indoor time, depending on your preferences and your pup’s needs.
If you’re looking for something beyond a standard walk, we will be happy to customize a longer visit. If you’re interested in a more immersive experience, you may want to explore our Central Park Adventure offering.
How will you access my home?
We’ll work with whatever setup is easiest and most reliable.
For buildings with a 24/7 front desk, we usually recommend adding us to your Permission to Enter list. In that case, we can pick up and return your key directly through the doorman.
For other building types, we ask that you either leave a key in a lockbox or provide us with a copy of your key. For clients who use our services regularly, having a dedicated copy with us tends to be the most seamless option. All keys are stored securely and labeled using our internal system, without any personal identifying details such as your name or address.
Unless we have our own copy of your key, we fully rely on timely access being provided at the time of the visit. While we always do our best to accommodate, we are working on a schedule. If we’re unable to enter for reasons outside of our control, the visit may need to be shortened to stay on track. If access is not provided within a reasonable timeframe, we may need to leave and return later, and both visits would be charged in full. We truly hope it never comes to that, so setting up smooth and reliable access from the start helps everything run smoothly.
Will I get updates?
Definitely. After each walk, you’ll receive a detailed report card with the route map, photos, potty updates, and anything else worth mentioning.
Report cards are delivered through our app (currently Walkies). If you prefer not to use the app, you’ll automatically receive a link to the report card via text message and/or email.
Are walks GPS-tracked?
Yes. Every walk is GPS-tracked, so you can see the exact route your pup took, along with arrival and finish times.
My dog has a unique routine. Can you follow it?
Yes, absolutely. That’s a big part of what we do.
Whether it’s a specific route, wearing a jacket in certain weather, using a particular harness, wiping paws, or having a meal or snack after the walk, we’ll follow your pup’s routine as closely as possible. We just ask that you share all the details with us in advance.
Do you have experience with shy or anxious dogs?
Yes. We’re very comfortable working with dogs who need a little extra time and patience. We take a calm, step-by-step approach and build trust gradually, always moving at your dog’s pace.
What happens in case of bad weather?
We walk in all kinds of weather, as long as it’s safe.
That said, in conditions like heavy rain, snowfall, or extreme heat or cold (with consideration of your dog’s breed and tolerance), the walk may be adjusted to a shorter potty break, with the remaining time spent indoors for playtime, cuddles, or simply keeping your pup company.
The same applies if your dog isn’t a fan of rain or snow and prefers to head back inside quickly. We’ll go over your pup’s individual “bad weather” preferences during the Meet & Greet, so you can let us know exactly how you’d like us to handle walks in those situations.
